Director, Product Engineering

We are looking for a candidate who has strong product experience in an Agile software environment. A focus on consumer oriented products (including responsive web and mobile) will be required. While Vibrent is a consumer healthcare technology company, the candidate need not have specific healthcare experience. We are seeking someone who understands that his/her primary responsibility is for the successful execution and delivery of various Vibrent product initiatives.  This is a hands-on roll requiring daily interaction with both the Product and Engineering teams.  A strong technical background in software engineering will be critical. 

This position is a full-time role in our Northern Virginia office and reports to the Chief Product Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • The Director of Product Engineering owns the product roadmap, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and other SCRUM related product assets
  • Team Management- hire, train, mentor, annual reviews, coaching, etc.
  • Understand best practices around analytics and ability to draw evidence based decisions
  • Strategic prioritization of user stories in an agile software development process
  • Story sign-off/acceptance
  • Drive the software development process from a product perspective
  • Lead and drive a team of developers to realize your product vision, with demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products
  • Gather business requirements, functional specification, user flows and other product documentation
  • Manage business expectations, facilitating communications and contributing to Business satisfaction during and after implementation
  • Ensure that all quality controls are identified, in place, and reviewed during the project
  • Coordinate with the health program management team and internal UX/UI team to implement product and platform features
  • Conduct competitive analyses and market research

Qualifications: 

  • At least 3 years leading Mobile Product Development teams and at least 8 years of Product Development/Management experience
  • A strong technical background in software engineering
  • Experience working in a small/startup environment
  • Experience delivering consumer facing products
  • Must enjoy working with mobile technology (responsive web, iOS, and Android)
  • Strong experience working in Agile software development methodology
  • Familiarity with wearables like Fitbit is a plus
  • Must have effective time management skills in order to organize and prioritize workload, foresee problem areas, and seek immediate action
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen or green card holder.
